The Government of Sindh snatched 355 residential plots worth nearly PKR 2 billion from allottees of the Taiser Township Scheme and handed them over to a private industrial company without approval from the competent forum, Malir Development Authority’s Governing Body.
These plots were legally allotted through a balloting process in July 2019, and over PKR 280 million was already collected from citizens. In 2021, the same land was transferred for industrial use, violating MDA rules, environmental laws (EPA Act 1997), and the rights of innocent allottees.
A former MDA Director General warned that this decision could cause loss of PKR 1.39 billion to allottees and may even lead to a NAB case. His warning note mysteriously disappeared from official records.
Despite an inquiry order issued by the Local Government Minister, no action has been taken for four years. This is the story of how power overruled law, and how ordinary citizens were left helpless.
