Pakistan’s short-term inflation flat at 0.07%

Pakistan’s short-term inflation, measured by the Sensitive Price Index (SPI), stayed flat in the week ending December 13, 2024, official data showed on Friday.

The weekly inflation remained flat at 0.07% due to a decline in the prices of vegetables. On yearly basis, sensitive price inflation was up 3.71%.

Onion prices declined 3.6%, tomatoes were down 3.1%, garlic prices also eased by 1.6% during the week. Egg prices also decreased by 2.1%.

On the other hand, chicken surged 3.8% and vegetable ghee (2.5kg) increased 2.3% during the outgoing week.

The SPI index, comprising 51 items collected from 50 markets in 17 cities, is computed weekly to assess the prices of essential commodities and services at shorter intervals.
