Pakistan Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker in Islamabad on Thursday, where both sides discussed regional developments and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation.

According to officials, the talks also covered preparations and developments related to the next round of Islamabad-hosted discussions, with an emphasis on sustaining engagement amid evolving regional tensions.

Naqvi welcomed what he described as an initiative by US President Donald Trump to extend a ceasefire, calling it a positive step toward reducing tensions. He expressed hope for continued diplomatic progress, including efforts involving Iran.

He stressed the importance of maintaining diplomatic channels to achieve a durable resolution to the conflict, adding that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir are engaged in coordinated efforts at multiple levels to support peace efforts.

Naqvi voiced optimism that all sides would continue to prioritize diplomacy and peaceful outcomes.

Baker appreciated Pakistan’s role in supporting regional stability and encouraging dialogue.
