The MBZ-SAT, a satellite built entirely by Emirati engineers, successfully launched Tuesday night from California’s Vandenberg Space Force Base. The liftoff occurred at 11:09 p.m. local time.

Developed at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in Dubai, MBZ-SAT is designed to deliver high-resolution imaging with unprecedented detail, capable of capturing features as small as one square meter.

The satellite is expected to enhance disaster management efforts and improve quality of life globally.

With a data-sharing speed three times faster and productivity ten times greater than previous satellites, MBZ-SAT promises real-time insights for urban planning, environmental monitoring, and other applications.

Ready for liftoff

Ahead of the launch, the MBRSC team conducted final tests at SpaceX facilities to ensure mission readiness.

The successful launch underscores the UAE’s growing role in space exploration and advanced technology, further cementing its position as a leader in the global space industry.
