Celebrating World Arabic Language Day, the Arab League has expressed its respect for Dubai’s Arab Reading Challenge initiative, launched by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, and called on Arab states to start integrating it into their educational curricula.
The call was part of a speech delivered by Ambassadress Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, the Arab League’s Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Department, who said that the initiative represents a pioneering knowledge and cultural project that contributes to promoting the Arabic language, which can be extended beyond Dubai and the UAE to other members of the Arab League.
The ambassadress also invited Arab states to invest in the Arab Reading Challenge initiative, to support the Arabic language in confronting the different challenges facing Arab cultural identity.
She also emphasized the growing need for Arabic language-related research, which supports the Arab national identity.
The Arab Reading Challenge is an educational initiative launched in 2015 by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives Foundation, encouraging school students to read Arabic texts, which strengthens their relationship with both the language and the culture.
