PCB, Ali Tareen and the HBL PSL mess

, ,

This whole PCB–Ali Tareen episode feels less like a serious governance issue and more like unnecessary drama. If Ali Tareen had so many concerns with PSL’s management and believed the league wasn’t growing as a brand, then why jump into bidding for another franchise — possibly an even more expensive one than Multan?

On the other hand, if PCB was so firm on demanding public apologies and threatening blacklisting, how did that stance suddenly turn into a warm welcome at the bidding table?

The mixed signals, public statements, and poorly handled timing have only damaged PSL’s image, especially when the board is preparing to sell two new teams. Potential investors watching existing owners being dragged into controversies will naturally think twice before putting their money into the league.

This could have been settled quietly over tea and biscuits, but instead it became a global talking point — and not in a good way.
