The federal government is expected to present the budget for the next fiscal year in the first week of June, according to a budget calendar issued by the Ministry of Finance.
Finance Ministry documents show that the ministry’s budget wing will submit a midyear economic review to the National Assembly in February.
Under the schedule, an assessment of ministries’ economic performance for the upcoming budget will be completed by Feb. 20. By the same date, ministries and their attached departments are required to submit preliminary budget estimates as well as initial projections for development expenditures, the documents said.
Meetings of the ministries’ budget review committees for the next fiscal year are scheduled to be held from March 30 to April 12. The budget strategy paper is to be finalized by April 20.
The Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) is expected to meet in the first week of May, followed by a meeting of the National Economic Council, chaired by the prime minister, in the second week of May.
Preparation of all relevant budget documents for the next fiscal year will be completed by the end of May, according to the finance ministry’s calendar.
