A high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates has arrived in Beirut on Sunday to oversee preparations for the reopening of the UAE embassy in Lebanon, marking a significant diplomatic development, according to WAM.

The move follows directives from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who recently spoke with Lebanon’s newly elected president, Joseph Aoun.

In a statement reported by WAM, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the reopening as a testament to the enduring fraternal ties between the UAE and Lebanon and their peoples.

The Ministry reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to Lebanon’s unity, national sovereignty, and territorial integrity while emphasizing steadfast support for the Lebanese people during challenging times.

The visit coincides with Lebanese President Aoun’s start of parliamentary consultations to name the country’s new prime minister. The most notable nominees include caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, businessman Fouad Makhzoumi, and former diplomat Nawaf Salam, who serves as the 27th president of the International Court of Justice.
