The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, in partnership with the Insurance Authority, has launched a new insurance product aimed at protecting the financial rights of expatriate workers in the private sector.
This initiative ensures that workers receive their entitlements in the event of a company default, including unpaid wages for a specified period.
One of the key benefits of this insurance product is the provision of a return travel ticket for expatriate workers wishing to return to their home country.
This launch is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to enhance the labor market through improved policies and regulations, strengthening the contractual relationship between workers and employers.
The aim is to increase the attractiveness and efficiency of the labor market, aligning it with international standards.
This insurance product complements other measures introduced by the ministry, such as the Wage Protection Law and contract documentation, all designed to safeguard the rights of both workers and employers.
Expatriate workers will be covered under this new insurance product starting from October 6. The ministry has also issued a guidebook detailing all the related procedures, which is available on its official website
