Pakistani rock band Jal’s highly anticipated return to Bangladesh after 14 years ended in chaos on Saturday, as an overwhelming crowd forced organizers to call in the army and cut the concert short. The “Legends of the Decade” event, originally scheduled at Dhaka Arena, was moved to Jamuna Future Park shopping mall due to heavy rainfall affecting the original venue’s capacity.

The venue change led to crowd overflow, with fans filling every corner of the mall, from elevators to railings across eight floors. Lead singer Goher Mumtaz had barely begun performing the band’s iconic hit “Aadat” when authorities intervened, signaling an abrupt end to the show. The decision was made to prevent a potential stampede among an estimated 10,000 fans, according to local reports.

In a statement on social media, Mumtaz thanked fans for their overwhelming response while defending the organizers. He explained that the army and government took control of the situation due to security concerns.”I respect and adore you guys and know that some of you travelled from different cities to see the show, but for me, your lives are much more important than anything,” Mumtaz wrote.

Despite the abrupt conclusion, fans shared glimpses of the concert on social media, expressing their love for the Pakistani band.
